Intimate Romantic Picnic Recipes
Ah, a picnic. If you are in love, there are few things better than spending time with your special someone outdoors with a nice, relaxing, and romantic picnic. Whether it is under a warm summer sun, or beneath a cool night sky, a romantic picnic is a great way to show your love and appreciation for your partner – and get a little romance in, too. To make your romantic picnic truly special, you will need the best romantic picnic recipes you can find. Luckily, this article is here for you. In this article, I will share with you my favorite romantic picnic recipes for a great meal.
What Romantic Picnic Food Recipes Do You Need?
Every picnic is different and unique, but they all have elements in common. Romantic picnics are no different. The mood needs to be one of love and passion, and needs to be highly comfortable; therefore, you will need romantic picnic recipes that reflect this. Grilling out is not very romantic, unfortunately, and other foods are just too heavy for the kind of scene we want to set. This is why most romantic picnic recipes are light, rather than heavy. After all, pigging out on a four-course meal outdoors is not very romantic. The romantic picnic recipes you will get below will focus on a meal that can be a light lunch or a light dinner.
Romantic Picnic Recipes: Intimate Sandwiches
One of my absolute favorite ideas for a romantic picnic is to incorporate sandwiches into the meal. This has several advantages. They are easy to make and do not cost a lot of money. They are not hard to transport either, and can be served warm or cold. Plus, you get to feed them to your partner – and what is more romantic than that?
Try this recipe for success. First, buy a French baguette (a slender loaf of crusted bread), preferably one cut in half. You can pre-cut the bread by slicing it in half (lengthwise, not in the middle) and then slicing it into quarters or smaller pieces. Then, bring an assortment of sandwich materials. Here is my recommendation. Try prosciutto ham paired with a nice ethnic cheese, such as a brie or Swiss. Your condiments can be whatever you want them to be, but I recommend a Dijon or honey mustard spread for great taste. Arugula and thinly sliced plum tomatoes are additional options, but are not required.
Bring all of these ingredients to the picnic with you. You can prepare the sandwiches before hand, but I think making sandwiches together (or even making sandwiches with each other) is a wonderful activity for romance. Another beautiful thing about these sandwiches is that they do not take up a lot of your attention or time. Your focus should be on your special someone, after all, not the food.
Romantic Picnic Food Recipes: Beverages
Of course you do not want to forget to bring a beverage. The best wine for a romantic outing depends really on your tastes. I personally prefer white wines, but red wines will do, too – just keep them light. I recommend a light-bodied red with fruit flavors if you want a red wine. My personal favorite, though, is Moscato d’Asti, a sparkling white wine that is crisp yet extremely smooth and delicious. But really, your partner’s favorite drink is what I would always recommend bringing, if they have one.
I hope the romantic picnic recipes above really help you on your next romantic outing. Sandwiches seem simple, but really they are perfect for a romantic getaway outdoors. They are easy to make – which leaves you even more time to enjoy the magic of being with the one you love.
